In line with its role to educate the public on the capital market, the SC established the Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) on 1 July 1994 to promote education and research in the development of the capital market in Malaysia.
2. What are the key activities of the SIDC?
The SIDC is responsible for promoting education and research for the development of the capital market in order to raise the standards and enhance the skills of capital market participants. It is also responsible to create awareness among investors and responsible for the training and continuous enhancement of the skills of the SC staff. The SIDC facilitates training courses for both the industry and the SC staff through various programmes and activities, including conferences, seminars, workshops and through computer-based learning. The SIDC also develops licensing examination modules, publishes educational materials.

4. Does the SC provide facilities that can be used by the public to do their own research on the capital market?
The SIDC Library, a specialised library in the area of capital market is opened to the public from Mondays to Fridays between 9am to 5pm and on Saturdays between 9am to 12pm.
