Dato Dr Nik Ramlah
Deputy Chief Executive

 

Nik Ramlah Mahmood was appointed Deputy Chief Executive on 1 April 2012. Prior to that, she was Managing Director and also Executive Director of the SC's Enforcement Division.

 

Over more than 18 years at the SC, Nik Ramlah has worked in areas ranging from legal and regulatory reform, product and market development, Islamic capital market, investor education and enforcement

 

Nik Ramlah is a core member of the OECD Asian Roundtable on Corporate Governance and was actively involved in the preparation of 2001 High Level Finance Committee Report on Corporate Governance (FCR CG) and the Corporate Governance Blueprint 2011. She chaired the Finance Committee's Working Group on Legal and Regulatory Reform and the Implementation Project.

 

Nik Ramlah was also a member of the Corporate Law Reform Committee and chaired the Working Group on Corporate Governance and Shareholder Rights.

 

Nik Ramlah sits on the board of the Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), the training and education arm of SC and is a member of the Professional Development Panel of the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance (INCEIF), the global University of Islamic Finance and is an EXCO member of the Asian Institute of Finance (AIF).

 

Nik Ramlah holds a First Class Honours in Law from University Malaya and a LLM and PhD from the University of London. For her PhD, she was a recipient of a scholarship from the Association of Commonwealth Universities. She is a member of the Association of Chartered Islamic Finance Professionals (ACIFP).

 

Prior to joining the SC in 1993, Nik Ramlah was an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law, University Malaya.
