Shamsul Bahriah Shamsudin was appointed as Director of Intermediary & Fund Supervision on 1 July 2022. She started her career with the SC in 2003, as Senior Manager, Research & Strategy, responsible for providing policy research and strategy for capital market development. She was promoted to head Institution Supervision in 2009, responsible for the oversight of institutions, market operators and financial market infrastructures.

Prior to joining the SC, she was an Investment Analyst for more than 15 years, serving several major local and foreign brokerage houses. She began her career as an analyst in Arab-Malaysian Securities in 1986, literally as pioneers in financial research for the local stockbroking industry. In 1990, she moved to a Hong Kong-based Sun Hung Kai Securities, where she headed its representative office in Kuala Lumpur. In 1993, she joined Jardine Fleming Securities as a Senior Analyst.

Shamsul Bahriah holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Boston University, USA.
