Datuk Ranjit Ajit Singh
Datuk Ranjit Ajit Singh was appointed Executive Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) effective April 2012. He was previously Managing Director of the SC and has over 20 years’ experience in the field of finance and securities regulation. He currently chairs the Securities Industry Development Corporation and the Capital Market Development Fund.
He is also a member of the Board of the Labuan Financial Services Authority and the Financial Reporting Foundation.
On the international front, Datuk Ranjit Ajit Singh is Chairman of the Emerging Markets Committee (EMC) of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO). As its Chairman, Datuk Ranjit leads the largest committee within IOSCO, accounting for 86 members worldwide, representing the world’s fastest growing economies, including 10 of the G-20 members. In this capacity he also holds the position of the Vice-Chair of the governing Board of IOSCO and represents the EMC at the Financial Stability Board (FSB). He has played a key role in international securities regulatory policy work.
Datuk Ranjit is trained as a financial economist and accountant. He holds a Bachelor of Economics (Honours) degree and a Master of Economics degree in Finance from Monash University Melbourne and is a fellow of CPA Australia. He has had prior working experience in Australia and Malaysia in academia, consulting and accounting.
