Mr Sopnendu Mohanty is responsible for creating development strategies and regulatory policies around technology innovation to “better manage risks, enhance efficiency and strengthen competitiveness in the financial sector”.  Prior to joining the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS), Mohanty was with Citibank as their Global Head of the Consumer Lab Network and Programs, which included driving innovation programs and managing innovation labs across multiple geographies globally.

Mohanty has spent 20 years in the APAC region and held various roles in technology, finance, productivity, and business development.  He was Citibank’s APAC regional head of Branch operations along with heading the Consumer Innovation Lab in Singapore. He spent a significant time in Japan, where he was Citibank’s Retail Business Development head and also did leadership stints in various functions within operations and technology.  Globally, he played a significant subject matter expert role in driving Citibank’s global smart banking programme, to transform bank’s physical network to digital first, smart & innovative, client centric and highly delightful customer engagement centre.

Mohanty has co-authored various patented work in area of retail distribution of financial sector. He is based in Singapore, loves travelling, reads history and pursues culinary innovation as a hobby. He was in the list of Fintech’s Most Powerful Dealmakers of 2016 by Institutional Investor.

Australia and New Zealand Market Leader Jacob Hook is a Partner in Oliver Wyman’s Sydney office, where he leads the Public Policy practice across the Asia Pacific region, as well as the Australia practice.Jacob has extensive experience consulting to leading public and private financial sector institutions across Asia Pacific and Europe and worked in Oliver Wyman’s Singapore office for five years before transferring to Australia.

Jacob’s expertise includes national financial sector strategy, regulatory architecture and regulatory organisational development, as well as securities, exchange, and wealth and asset management regulation. He also works on strategy issues for leading wholesale banks, asset managers, and wealth managers.

Jacob holds a BA (Honours) in Political Science from Victoria University in New Zealand, an MA in International Finance and Banking from the Fletcher School, Tufts University. He is the author of a number of published reports on the financial services sector in Asia Pacific and a regular speaker at industry events..

Benedicte Bénédicte N. Nolens

Bénédicte N. Nolens is Senior Director and Head of Risk and Strategy (R&S) of the Hong Kong Securities and Futures Commission (SFC). Bénédicte joined the SFC in 2012 to establish a new, centralised unit, overseeing risk identification and related strategic planning.
In 2013, R&S published a report entitled “G-SIFI Trends in Risk and Risk Mitigation”, setting out best practices in risk governance and risk culture. In 2015, R&S published a second report entitled “Asset Management: Looking Forward”, setting out risk and strategic trends in asset management, including trends in e-platforms and other innovations in the fund distribution channel.

During the course of 2015, Bénédicte was appointed as a member of the Financial Stability Board (FSB) Market Experts Group on Asset Management, as a member of the Hong Kong Financial Service and Treasury Bureau Fintech Steering Group, and also as the Vice Chair of the International Organization of Securities Commissions (IOSCO) Committee on Emerging Risks (CER), which issues an annual IOSCO Risk Outlook report. Starting March 2016, Bénédicte oversees the Fintech Contact Point of the SFC.

Before joining the SFC, Bénédicte was a Managing Director at Credit Suisse and an Executive Director at Goldman Sachs. Bénédicte holds an LLM and MBA (high honours), and was admitted to the New York State Bar in 1998. In January 2016, Bénédicte was a recipient of the China Daily Asian Women Leadership Awards at the Asia Financial Forum (AFF), recognising women who are agents of change in their societies and role models in entrepreneurship, innovation, charity and the empowerment of women.
