Your role is to:

Lead and to manage the inspection and inquiry units of the Audit Oversight Board (AOB) to ensure compliance with the relevant Act, rules and auditing standards that would enhance confidence in the quality and reliability of audited financial statements of public interest entities.

Your accountabilities will be to:

  • Stategise, plan and develop inspection strategies in line with broad organisational strategies and objectives
  • Plan and lead inspections on large audit firms and complex audit files
  • Review inspection and inquiry reports and propose appropriate recommendations
  • Drive and/or facilitate strategic initiatives that would enhance public confidence in the quality and reliability of audited financial statements
  • Develop and implement a systematic approach to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of AOB’s risk management, control and governance processes
  • Establish strong work relationships with relevant government bodies and industry groups to keep abreast with latest developments, gain buy-in and obtain feedback for enhancement and continuous improvement
  • Lead, manage and develop staff members to perform and achieve the business objectives of the unit

 You should have:

  • A strong first degree in accounting or finance or an equivalent accounting professional qualification
  • At least fifteen (15) years’ audit work experience
  • Good understanding of commercial practices and corporate developments nationally and internationally
  • Proficient knowledge in auditing and accounting standards and experience in auditing public interest entities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills
