SC launches 6 th intake of Capital Market Graduate Training Scheme – Enhances employability of graduates and boost career opportunities
The Securities Commission (SC) is calling all graduates to participate in the sixth intake of the Capital Market Graduate Training Scheme (CMGTS), in an effort to increase the pool of local graduates equipped with skills and knowledge of the capital market.
Driven by the SC, through its education arm, the Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) and supported by capital market industry associations, the CMGTS is aimed at increasing the supply of skilled manpower to the Malaysian capital market and bridging the gaps between the skills acquired at universities and those needed by the industry and the market.
In the course of the training scheme, successful applicants are provided with an avenue to acquire basic knowledge on how the Malaysian capital market operates while experiencing practical exposure in the various sectors of the capital market by undergoing a 12-month internship programme.
This full-time programme comprises a one-month workshop at the SC and an 11-month internship with participating stockbroking companies, investment banks, accounting firms, public-listed companies and selected organisations. Since its launch in April 2003, a total of 462 graduates have successfully completed this scheme.
The CMGTS is offered once a year and is open to all Malaysian graduates, aged 21 to 29 years old. They must have graduated between 2000 and 2006, with a degree in accountancy, business administration, law, Shariah, banking, mathematics, economics or other analytical related degrees. A monthly allowance of RM700 will be given throughout the training and upon completion, a certificate of participation will be awarded.
Interested graduates may obtain further information and the application form online at the SC website here. Alternatively, they may e-mail their request to firstname.lastname@example.org or send a self-addressed envelope with stamp to:CMGTS Secretariat

The application closing date for the 2006 intake is 31 March 2006.
Upon completion of the scheme, graduates would have a better understanding of how business and finance work in the capital market, how to analyse the value of capital market products, assess its risks and rewards, appreciate the level of technical competencies required and understand the width of career opportunities offered by the various sectors of the industry.
This initiative complements the government’s measures to stimulate and further enhance the capital market as part of its overall effort to ensure the continued growth of the economy.
