    Rivers in Selangor are vital for urban drainage, water management, and surrounding communities. However, their health and functionality are at risk due to pollution, rapid urbanisation, and climate change.
    Your objective is to build awareness on protecting our rivers by:

    • Developing a 45- to 60-second Reel on issues surrounding river
    • Providing supporting material containing sources of information included in your Reel

    Open to:

    • Undergraduate students enrolled in public or private universities in Malaysia
    • Malaysian students enrolled in universities abroad
    • Minimum three students per team
    • Teams must be gender-diverse

    • Winner: RM3,500
    • 1st Runner Up: RM2,500
    • 2nd Runner Up: RM1,000
  • RIFAR Marathon

    Taman Sri Muda, Shah Alam, sits approximately 2 metres above mean sea and is exposed to compound fluvial and pluvial flooding. It experienced significant flood events in 1995, 2021, 2022, and 2025

    Your objective is to design an integrated flood mitigation intervention for Taman Sri Muda that:

    • has a climate mitigation or transition co-benefit (e.g., renewable energy generation)
    • is financially viable and environmentally sustainable


    Open to:

    • Students enrolled in public or private universities in Malaysia
    • Malaysian students enrolled in universities abroad
    • Three to five students per team
    • Teams must be gender-diverse
    • At least one team member is pursuing an Engineering degree and one a Finance degree
    • Team members pursuing degrees in environmental science, social science or other subjects are welcome as flood resilience is an inter-disciplinary issue
    • Faculty advisors are encouraged to provide support


    Cash prizes:

    • Winner: RM25,000
    • 1st Runner Up: RM15,000
    • 2nd Runner Up: RM10,000
