The conference aims to create and instill awareness and understanding of the
muamalat concepts amongst market participants particularly, chief executives, company directors, bankers, researchers, stockbrokers, futures brokers, fund managers, Syari'ah experts, academicians, as well as institutional and private investors.
The theme for this year's two-day conference is "Developing Islamic Capital Market Instruments". This conference will focus on issues pertaining to the implementation of the
fiqh muamalat concepts such as
Dha' Wa Ta'ajjal, Bai' Ul-Ma'dum, Bai' Ul-'Inah, As-Suyulah, 'Uqud Mu`ajjalah and Al-Ijarah and their role in developing and structuring instruments in the Islamic capital market. Case studies of Islamic instruments which have been issued in Malaysia will also be reviewed. These will include the Islamic Revolving Underwriting Facilities (IRUF), Islamic benchmark bond, Al-Ijarah financing (Sukuk) and Bai' Bithaman Ajil financing with notes issuance (BaIDS 3/4 Bai' Bithaman Ajil Islamic Debts Securities).
The keynote address on "The Role of Ijtihad in the Development of an Islamic Capital Market", will be delivered by a renown Islamic scholar, Sheikh Dr. Taha Jaber Al-Alwani,
President of the International Institute of Islamic Thought, United States.

Bank Negara Malaysia; Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Sahan, Chairman of
Rating Agency of Malaysia; and Dato' Dr. Abdul Halim Ismail.
