Be on guard: SC warns against ‘CSI’ Investment Product and Beneficence International Investment (Group) Co Ltd

Kuala Lumpur, 7 May 2008

The Securities Commission (SC) warns members of the public against investing in any investment product purportedly marketed under the names ‘Credit Suisse Investment’ or ‘CSI’ or any other investment products offered by or through Beneficence International investment (Group) Company limited or any other related entities.

CSI is not approved by the SC and Beneficence International investment (Group) Company limited is not licensed by the SC to undertake any capital market related activities.

Members of the public should only invest in securities or investment products through parties that have been licensed by the SC. They are also advised to check the licensing status of any local or foreign companies with the SC before making any investments in such companies.

Activities related to investment advice, fund management and dealing in securities are regulated under the Capital Markets & Services Act 2007, and those offering such services require a licence from the SC.

Lists of companies and individuals licensed by the SC to engage in investment activities are available here.

Members of the public who come across any suspicious investment programmes and products, or have any information relating to such programmes and products should alert the SC via e-mail at [email protected] or telephone 03–6204 8999.
