Capital Market Goes Through Final Y2K Critical Date Without Glitches

Kuala Lumpur, 29 February 2000

The Securities Commission (SC) wishes to announce that the equities and futures market completed trading on 29 February, the last Y2K-related critical date, without any computer systems disruptions being reported.

The capital market institutions have reported to the SC that their mission critical systems functioned normally as at 5.00 p.m. today.

As the capital market passed its final Y2K hurdle, the SC would like to praise the concerted efforts of the capital market institutions and intermediaries who have diligently taken all necessary precautions and remedial steps to ensure a smooth transition to the Year 2000.
