The testing involved the exchanges, clearing houses, their member companies and service providers.
Based on the satisfactory test results, the SC is confident that Y2K-related disruptions will not affect the market when trading commences on 3 January 2000. Nevertheless, the SC will continue to monitor the situation closely until the market re-opens on 3 January 2000.
All market institutions and all market intermediaries, except those placed under business restrictions by the authorities, participated in the end-to-end testing. The Y2K status of intermediaries placed under business restrictions would be one of the several conditions assessed before these restrictions are lifted.
Issuing houses as well as other market intermediaries i.e. asset management companies and unit trust management companies have also confirmed via scheduled reports to the SC that they have not encountered any problems and are ready to operate as normal on 3 January.
