Companies Commission of Malaysia CEO joins SC as new Commission Member

Kuala Lumpur, 20 May 2002

The Securities Commission (SC) wishes to announce that, in line with Section 4 of the Securities Commission Act 1993, the Minister of Finance has appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Companies Commission of Malaysia, (formerly the Registrar of Companies), Encik Alim bin Abdullah as a Commission Member of the SC. The appointment took effect on 18 May 2002.

Encik Abdul Alim, 53, replaces Puan Habibah Abdul who was appointed as SC Commission Member on 18 May 1999.

Prior to joining the Companies Commission of Malaysia on 1 April 2002, Encik Abdul Alim was the Chairman of the Kuala Lumpur Industrial Court. He has also served as the Legal Adviser for the Ministry of Home Affairs (1996 - 2000) as well as the Johor State Government Legal Adviser (1992-1996).

Encik Abdul Alim is a Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln's Inn London).
