SC Charges Former Group Accountant of Asia Media Group Berhad

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) charged the former Group Accountant of Asia Media Group Berhad (AMGB) Ong Kar Kian (Ken Ong), 40, at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court yesterday, for furnishing a false statement relating to AMGB’s revenue of RM11,127,000 to Bursa Malaysia, an offence under section 369(b)(B) of CMSA.
The false statement relating to AMGB’s revenue was contained in AMGB’s Quarterly Report on Consolidated Results for the 4th Quarter ended 31st December 2015.

If convicted, Ken Ong could face imprisonment for a term not exceeding ten years and a fine not exceeding three million ringgit.

The Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court Judge Kamarudin bin Kamsun had granted bail of RM150,000 with one surety on condition that Ken Ong surrenders his passport to Court.
