SC: Market integrity intact

Kuala Lumpur, 12 September 2001

In light of the closure of the Malaysian securities and futures exchanges following the tragic events in the United States yesterday, the Securities Commission (SC) would like to assure investors that the integrity of our market and the settlement systems remain intact.

Clearing, settlements and payment for trades done and due for delivery/payment will be honoured.

Investors are assured that the closure is temporary and is a precautionary measure against undesirable chain reactions arising from the situation in the United States.

The SC will continue to monitor the situation together with the Exchanges and keep the Prime Minister advised. The public will be apprised of developments accordingly.
