SC’s Annual InvestSmart® Fest Returns to Enhance Malaysians’ Investment Literacy
8 October 2019   |   Kuala Lumpur
The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) will host its flagship investor education fair InvestSmart® Fest 2019 themed “Invest Smart” or “Bijak Labur” on 18-20 October 2019 at Hall 1 of the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur.

Aimed at equipping investors with the fundamentals in making sound investment decisions, the annual three-day InvestSmart® Fest will enable members of the public to learn about the various investment opportunities and understand how to protect themselves against investment scams or illegal investment schemes. Admission to this three-day event is free.

Bursa Malaysia Berhad, Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM), Financial Planning Association of Malaysia (FPAM) and Malaysian Financial Planning Council (MFPC) are the event partners for this year’s InvestSmart® Fest.

The InvestSmart® Fest 2019 showcases exhibition booths from over 50 capital market institutions, intermediaries, relevant agencies, industry players and associations under one roof as well as talks and seminars by industry experts. Visitors can also gain exposure to alternative market-based financing such as equity crowdfunding, peer-to-peer financing, digital investment management companies and digital asset exchanges in a dedicated “Digital Pavilion”.

As in previous years, the public can sign up for free financial planning assessments by licensed financial planners at “#FinPlan4u” booths during InvestSmart® Fest 2019. This year, Employees Provident Fund (EPF) will also join #FinPlan4U and provide retirement advisory service desks. Given popular demand and limited spaces, the public is encouraged to register their interest at www.investsmartsc.my.

In conjunction with the upcoming InvestSmart® Fest 2019, the SC is organising its ScamBuster Walk Hunt, on 20 October 2019, following on the success of its ScamBuster Run for the past two years. The ScamBuster Walk Hunt is aimed at raising awareness amongst Malaysians on illegal investment schemes via a fun, educational activity. All proceeds will go to the SC Heart, the regulator’s corporate social responsibility and charity initiative.

The ScamBuster Walk Hunt, will kick-off at MATIC Amphitheater, Jalan Ampang, and finishes at Hall 1 of the Mid Valley Exhibition Centre, Kuala Lumpur, offers attractive cash prizes. Participation is open to Malaysians aged 12 years and above. Registration is now open until 14 October 2019 at https://www.sc.com.my/scambusterwalkhunt.
