SIDC kicking off half-day seminars on What Investors Should Know

Kuala Lumpur, 27 April 2000

The Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) is kicking off seminars for retail investors this Saturday, 29 April. The series of half-day seminars, also known as SSS or SIDC Saturday Seminars, is targeted at those seeking guidance and basic understanding into the world of capital markets or simply to refresh and update their knowledge.

This Saturday's seminar titled "What Investors Should Know" (Part One) will cover "Shareholders Rights and Responsibilities in General Meetings" and "Raising Financial questions at an AGM". The next seminar will be on 13 May and will cover "The Malaysian Technology Sector and Practical Demonstrations of Valuation Applications".

In the second seminar, aside from understanding the global trends of "tech" stocks and what to look out for, investors will also learn how to read financial information in prospectuses, annual reports and broker research reports, and how to use valuation methods.

Both seminars will be held at the Auditorium of the Securities Commission building at Bukit Kiara. Registration is at RM50 per seminar. Enquiries may be made to Cik Sharizan at tel: 6548598.
