The former Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) Executive Vice President of Corporate and Legal Affairs, Encik Izlan Izhab will be facilitating the seminar. Encik Izlan served the KLSE for 15 years from 1985 to 2000.
The seminar aims to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of Malaysian securities laws and of how these laws accord protection to investors. It will benefit academicians, students and candidates preparing for the Trainee Dealer's Representative examination. It will also be of great educational value to general investors.
"Investors would be able to enhance their understanding of our securities laws and in doing so, become more aware of their rights and responsibilities," said the SIDC manager, Puan Teh Ija Jalil.
Puan Teh Ija added the seminar carries 10 CPE-points, which dealer's representatives can accumulate for licence renewal next year. CPE refers to the SIDC's Continuing Professional Education programme which was introduced in January 2001 to enhance professional competence of all licensed representatives and in the long run, create a culture of continuous education and improvement among them. The points collected from attending the CPE courses will be a pre-requisite for dealer's representative licence renewals from July 2002 and eventually cover all other categories of licences.
The registration fee is RM200 per person. Interested parties may contact Encik Zairulnizad at tel. no.: 03-62048000, fax no.: 03-62048008 or e-mail Zairulnizah Shahrim
