SC Chairman Dato’ Zarinah Anwar, who presented the scholarships recently, said the SC believes in life-long learning which enables its staff to acquire new skills and expertise to keep pace with the dynamism of global financial markets.

“The SC offers our people the opportunity to stretch their potential, tremendous intellectual challenge and the satisfaction of being able to make an impactful contribution towards the growth and development of the Malaysian capital market, ” she said.

The lucky ten are Philbert Tiki Yong, Annarina Chacko Jacob, Aina Shazwani Salleh, Nur Atiqah Mohd Zaki, Joanna Ghazali, Chew Li Chen, Yeoh Thean Jern, Nur Sharizad Mohd Suhaimi, A’lia Kaz Ahmad Kamal and Nazalea Nasihin.

“It has always been my dream to study Economics at Warwick University and I’m grateful to the SC for making it possible. I’m happy to receive this scholarship,” said Nur Sharizad who scored a high CGPA of 3.96 in her diploma at UiTM Johor.

The scholarship recipients were selected from over 550 applications received from all over the country. They were assessed based on their academic track record, co-curricular participation, leadership qualities, communication skills, interpersonal capabilities, personality, self-assurance and family background.

Given out for the twelfth year, the scholarships cover the students’ living subsistence allowance, tuition fees and other related fees for pre-university, local degree and overseas degree in various disciplines such as law, actuarial science, economics and international management.

In addition to the scholarships, the SC also provides internship and placement opportunities for students as part of its efforts to nurture and develop Malaysia’s human capital . Under these programmes, students are provided short term placements of up to three months at the SC to allow them to gain exposure to the Malaysian capital market.
