Free SIDC Seminar on how to be Stock Market Savvy

Kuala Lumpur, 11 October 2006

The Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) will be organising a free-of-charge seminar on 4 November 2006 to educate investors on making smart stock market investment decisions. The seminar will be held at the Securities Commission (SC) building in Kuala Lumpur.

"This seminar is to assist those who want to become savvy and wise investors. The aim is to arm investors with a sound understanding of investing in the stock market and the risks associated with equity investment," said SIDC General Manager and Head, Hasnah Omar.

The half-day seminar on "How to be a Smart Investor in the Stock Market" will feature experienced speakers from Chartered Financial Analysts Malaysia (CFA Malaysia) namely Yeoh Keat Seng, CFA and Teoh Kok Lin, CFA.

These speakers will provide seminar participants with useful advice and guidance on successful stock market investing, including how to select quality stocks and pitfalls to avoid. The SIDC will be speaking on investors' rights and responsibilities, and ways to invest wisely in the capital market.

"Investors are strongly encouraged to participate in investor education activities in order to equip themselves with the necessary knowledge to make informed investment decisions," said Hasnah.
