Nik Hasyudeen awarded CPA Australia’s President’s Award for Excellence

Encik Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff, Chairman of the Audit Oversight Board has received the prestigious President’s Award for Excellence – Service and Leadership award from the CPA Australia in conjunction with the World Congress of Accountants held recently in Kuala Lumpur.

The Board of Directors of CPA Australia has awarded Nik Hasyudeen this achievement for his significant contribution and eminent service to CPA Australia as well as to the accountancy profession in Malaysia and the ASEAN region. The President’s Award is a prestigious award to recognise a contribution over and above what might reasonably be expected through voluntary contribution. The award may be granted to members of CPA Australia or other persons who have served CPA Australia and made a significant contribution as any member including members of the Board, a Divisional Council or Staffed Branch Council, committee, task force or other entity within CPA Australia.

Nik Hasyudeen has been actively involved in the Public Practice Advisory Committee (PPAC) of CPA Australia through his appointment as a committee member in 2004 for a 3 year term and his appointment was renewed for a further 3 years. During his term, Nik demonstrated strong commitment and interest in the development of the public practice arena especially advancing the interest of the Malaysian public practitioners within CPA Australia. Furthermore, he also chaired the CPA Australia’s Public Practice Committee for a three year term from 2005 where he actively investigated issues that were impacting members of the public practice and sought ways to increase the profile of the public practitioners within the membership.

Nik had served as former president of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) from 2007-2009 where he chaired a number of committees and represented MIA on various international bodies. He was involved in the task force of the “Firm of the Future Forum” in 2008 which gave CPA Australia exposure amongst the smaller practitioners in Malaysia.

In addition, he has also actively contributed to the accounting profession through his appointment as the vice-president of the Asean Federation of Accountants and as a member of the board and strategy committee of the Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants.

Nik Mohd Hasyudeen, who was appointed as AOB Chairman in April this year, has over 23 years of industry experience and international exposure in financial reporting and auditing. He is presently a member of the Operation Review Panel of the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and the Corporate Debt Restructuring Committee and currently sits on the advisory boards of Universiti Sains Malaysia’s Graduate School of Business and the Faculty of Business and Accountancy in Universiti Malaya.
