This Programme, part of the strategic partnership between the SC and OCIS, is open to academicians or practitioners with extensive experience in Islamic finance and/or a closely-related discipline, and who can demonstrate competence in conducting independent applied research.

The successful applicant is expected to take up residence for one academic year at the OCIS starting October 2021, to conduct applied research on contemporary issues relevant to the Islamic capital market.
Besides conducting research, the selected scholar will also be expected to give occasional lectures and conduct seminars, engage in collaborative study, and conduct outreach to relevant institutions.
The SIR Programme was established in 2012 and has been well received globally, attracting scholars that include academicians and industry practitioners from Malaysia, Europe, Middle East and Americas.
This programme is part of the SC’s continuous efforts to spur sustained global development of the Islamic capital market, with thought leadership as a key pillar.
