Public seminar on amendments to securities laws

Kuala Lumpur, 10 June 1998

The Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) of the Securities Commission (SC) is holding a public seminar on amendments to securities laws at Hotel Istana, Kuala Lumpur on 16 June 1998.

The topics to be covered include insider trading, the importance of corporate disclosure policy, enhancement of enforcement powers (both civil remedies and criminal enforcement) and new reporting requirements for companies.

SC Chairman Dato' Dr Mohd Munir Abdul Majid will deliver the opening address. Speakers will be from SC and the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE). The panel session will include all the speakers, a legal practitioner and a representative from the Malaysian Association of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (MAICSA).

The one-day seminar will benefit company directors, financial controllers, corporate secretaries, legal advisors, accountants, merchant bankers, tax planners and investors.
