SC keeping close eye on market following technical glitch

Kuala Lumpur, 3 July 2008

The Securities Commission (SC) has been in close communication with Bursa Malaysia following the technical failure in the trading system that led to the closure of the stockmarket this morning.

Bursa has assured the SC that they are working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible. In the meantime, under Bursa’s contingency plans, the back-up system is operational and trading will resume in the second trading session (2.30-5.00pm).

The SC will continue to monitor developments closely in order for market integrity to be maintained at all times.
