SC-OCC Financial Derivatives & Risk Management Workshop

The Securities Industries Development Centre (SIDC) of the Securities Commission (SC) and the Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) will be organising a four-day workshop on Financial Derivatives and Risk Management from 7-10 October, at the Legend Hotel, Kuala Lumpur.

This workshop is timely in view of the development of financial derivatives into indispensable tools in portfolio management and exchange rate risk which has resulted in the growing demand for derivatives professionals.

Brokers, dealers, derivative product managers and corporate treasurers are invited to participate in this intensive workshop. The central theme of the workshop will be on selecting appropriate strategies and managing a firm's overall portfolio risk. Workshop participants will be guided through a maze of factors that determine pricing and volatility of derivatives instruments. Active participation will be encouraged through a combination of analytical lectures and thought-provoking problem solving sessions.

Speakers for the workshop will comprise leading, local and foreign industry professionals. Among the distinguished speakers are senior officials from the SC, OCC, Chicago Board Options Exchange, Malaysia Monetary Exchange (MME), and the American Stock Exchange. The wide range of topics to be presented at the workshop include topics such as "Introduction to Options", "Corporate Risk Management Using Derivatives", "Futures Market in Malaysia" and "Clearing House Risk Management Concepts and Practices".
