SC seeks public feedback on proposed revisions to guidelines on private debt securities and asset-backed debt securities

Kuala Lumpur, 23 October 2002

The Securities Commission (SC) today released a consultative paper to seek public comments on proposed revisions to two sets of guidelines, the Guidelines on the Offering of Private Debt Securities (PDS Guidelines) and the Guidelines on the Offering of Asset-Backed Securities (ABS Guidelines). The consultative paper is available on the SC website.

The proposed revisions are based on the SC’s review of the guidelines which were released in July 2000 (PDS Guidelines) and April 2001 (ABS Guidelines). The review was undertaken as part of the SC’s continued objectives to further streamline the issuance process and to improve market efficiencies. In its review, the SC had taken into consideration feedback received from market practitioners during regular consultation meetings over the past year or so.
