SC to host 2nd World Capital Markets Symposium in September
14 June 2010   |   Kuala Lumpur
The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) will host the second World Capital Markets Symposium (WCMS) on 27-28 September 2010 in Kuala Lumpur, with the main agenda focusing on leadership and governance in transforming the future landscape of the global capital markets.

The Symposium builds on last year’s highly successful event which provided a platform for world experts in economics, finance and capital markets, alongside government and corporate leaders, policy makers and practitioners to exchange views, share insights and discuss the challenges, opportunities and possible solutions relating to global economic and financial issues.

This year’s WCMS, with the theme “Transforming Capital Markets: Leadership, Change and Governance,” will focus on the opportunities afforded to the global community to change international practices, rules and regulations as well as governance structures to make financial markets and systems more resilient. “

The Symposium is also expected to examine the strategic role of leadership in achieving sustainable and balanced global growth through an inclusive transformation process,” SC Chairman Tan Sri Zarinah Anwar said.

The Prime Minister of Malaysia YAB Dato’ Sri Mohd Najib Tun Razak will officiate and deliver the keynote address at the Symposium.

Speakers are expected to include economic and finance ministers from the region, senior regulators and CEOs of public listed companies and leading financial institutions. The Symposium is expected to feature prominent thought leaders in finance and leadership.
