SC Welcomes Abang Iskandar as Enforcement Director, Bids Farewell to Abdul Karim

Kuala Lumpur, 5 May 2004

The Securities Commission (SC) wishes to announce the appointment of Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim as its Director of Enforcement Division. The appointment took effect on 1 May 2004.

Abang Iskandar replaces Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) Abdul Karim Abdul Jalil who joined the SC on 1 April 2002. Encik Abdul Karim who was the Head of Criminal Appeal at the Attorney General’s Chambers before joining the SC, has moved to the Anti Corruption Agency as its Director of Prosecution and Legal.

Abang Iskandar Abang Hashim, also a DPP, has 21 years of experience in various positions, both in the Legal and Judiciary Service and was heading the Commercial Crime Unit in the Criminal Division at the Attorney General’s Chambers before joining the SC.

The Enforcement Division conducts investigations into possible violations of securities and futures laws, and prosecutes breaches of the laws upon obtaining consent from the Public Prosecutor. There are three departments within the division, namely, the Complaints Department, Investigation Department and Prosecution Department.
