SIDC Launches I-Film Competition to Boost Varsity Students' Financial Literacy
29 December 2011  |   Kuala Lumpur
The Securities Industry Development Corporation (SIDC), the training and education arm of the Securities Commission Malaysia, is calling on college and university students to participate in a nationwide Intervarsity Financial Literacy Movie (I-FiLM) Competition, which offers cash prizes of up to RM3,000.

Open to all college and university students with interest in social networking, this competition aims to assess students’ ability to creatively promote the concepts of money management and investing for the future among their peers.

To participate, students must produce an original video on financial management or smart investing in an imaginative and entertaining format such as music video, animation, short film, or public service announcement. Submission details and rules of the competition are available on the Malaysian Investor website, www.min.com.my.

I-FiLM is one of the many innovative efforts by the SIDC to create well-informed and savvy investors in the capital market through quality investor education for the Malaysian public. Another well-received financial literacy competition organised by the SIDC in 2011 was the online National Level Kids & Cash Interschool Quiz Competition, which saw the participation of 2,116 primary schools throughout Malaysia.

In addition, the SIDC raises public awareness on smart investing and money management through investor education seminars and workshops targeted at various segments of the community, such as schoolchildren, university students, parents, women as well as white and blue collar workers. This year, its financial literacy programmes have benefited 47,548 participants across the country.

The i-FiLM competition closes 11 February 2012 and winners will be announced on 17 February 2012. More information on the competition is available on the Malaysian Investor website www.min.com.my and on the SIDC Facebook page at www.facebook.com/BMWSIDC.
