SIDC Organises Introductory Talk on Malaysian Capital Market

Kuala Lumpur, 13 March 2002

The Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC), the training and education arm of the Securities Commission, is organising a seminar entitled "Introduction to the Capital Market" from 18-19 March 2002 at the SC Building, Kuala Lumpur.

The introductory-level seminar aims to provide participants with a fundamental understanding of the Malaysian capital market. In this regard, the seminar will discuss among others, the roles and functions of the SC and the exchanges.

It will also educate participants on the basic steps of investment planning and how to manage their personal investments, especially within a disclosure-based regulatory (DBR) environment. In addition to that, participants can also learn about the measures undertaken by the SC and other market institutions to ensure fair play in the market and safeguard investor interests.

This seminar is targeted at new entrants to the Malaysian capital market, university students as well as members of the public who wish to acquire a fundamental knowledge of the Malaysian capital market and financial planning.
