SIDC Saturday Seminars in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching

The Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) of the Securities Commission will be organising two Saturday Seminars in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching in July.

Saturday Seminar on Share Valuation, Sutera Harbour Resort, Kota Kinabalu - 13 July 2002
The Saturday Seminar in Kota Kinabalu is on "Share Valuation" and will be held on 13 July 2002 at the Sutera Harbour Resort.
This seminar is designed to provide an insight on the various methods for share valuation. It aims to provide a practical and useful framework for ordinary shareholders, debenture holders, employees and other stakeholders of a company, as well as academicians to better understand share valuation.
The seminar will be facilitated by Dr. Ch'ng Huck Khoon of Ch'ng Consultancy. Dr Ch'ng will cover topics on efficient market hypothesis and its implications for investment, valuation of equity and debt instruments, as well as corporate actions and entitlements such as the interpretation, application and valuation of rights issues, bonus issues, warrants and preference shares.
Saturday Seminar on "Fund Management: Practical Asset Allocation and Portfolio Construction", Merdeka Palace Hotel, Kuching - 27 July 2002
The Saturday Seminar in Kuching which is entitled "Fund Management: Practical Asset Allocation and Portfolio Construction", will be held on 27 July at Merdeka Palace Hotel.
This seminar will be facilitated by Mr. Geoffrey Ng of Asset Management Business Intelligence Sdn Bhd. This intermediate level seminar will provide participants with a better understanding on the construction of an investment portfolio and the structure within which financial assets are managed. In this regard, the seminar topics will include the objectives of an investment portfolio, modern and practical portfolio management as well as performance evaluation. There will also be a case study on how to construct an investment policy statement.
Both Saturday Seminars are SIDC CPE-approved and carry 10 CPE-points each, which dealer's representatives must accumulate for licence renewal. CPE refers to the SIDC's Continuing Professional Education programme aimed to enhance professional competence of all licensed representatives and in the long run, create a culture of continuous education and improvement among them.
