SIDC's Awareness Programme on Investing on MESDAQ

Kuala Lumpur, 30 November 2005

In conjunction with the issuance of the Securities Commission's (SC) Guidelines on Initial Public Offerings and Listings on the MESDAQ Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad (MESDAQ IPO Guidelines), the Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) is embarking on its "Investing on MESDAQ Awareness Programme" to educate and promote greater understanding among intermediaries and investors on investing in the MESDAQ Market.

The awareness programme aims to ensure that intermediaries and investors appreciate the uniqueness of the MESDAQ Market as a fund raising platform, including the risks and rewards of investing in such a market.

For this purpose, the SIDC has produced easy-to-read leaflets on Investing on the MESDAQ Market . These leaflets will be distributed to the public at SIDC's roadshows and exhibitions and also available at the SIDC Shop at the SC Building. It is also posted on the Malaysian Investor website, www.min.com.my.

The awareness programme also includes a seminar for intermediaries which will be held in early 2006 that will discuss the enhanced requirements in the new MESDAQ IPO Guidelines, which are aimed at improving the investibility of MESDAQ companies and promoting accountability and commitment of the directors and promoters.

In addition to this, the SIDC will also be organising sessions for investors, riding on its existing IQ Intelligent Investing campaign, which was launched on 4 October 2005. In this regard, topics relating to investing in the MESDAQ Market will be incorporated into the SIDC's nationwide roadshows and exhibitions.
