New Commission Member for the SC

Kuala Lumpur, 15 February 2000

The Securities Commission (SC) wishes to announce that, in line with Section 4 of the Securities Commission Act 1993, the Minister of Finance has appointed Cik Siti Hadzar binti Mohd Ismail as a Commission Member of the SC, with effect from 1 February 2000. She replaces Encik Salehuddin bin Mohamed who is the Director of the Actuarial Division/Government Actuary in the Ministry of Finance.

Cik Siti Hadzar is the Secretary of the Economics and International Division, Ministry of Finance. Having been in public service since 1971, Cik Siti Hadzar has close to 29 years work experience in the Government sector.

Prior to her appointment at the Ministry of Finance, Cik Siti Hadzar was attached to the Economics Planning Unit, holding posts in, among others, the Foreign Investment Committee and Macro Economics Section.

During the course of her work, Cik Siti Hadzar has been involved in various international ministerial-level meetings such as the ASEAN Finance Minister's Meeting, APEC Finance Minister's Meeting as well as the World Bank/International Monetary Fund Meetings. She was also awarded with the Kesatria Mangku Negara (KMN) and Johan Setia Mahkota (JSM) in 1983 and 1998, respectively.

Cik Siti Hadzar obtained a Masters in Arts (Development Economics) from Williams College, United States of America in 1976.
