SIDC Organises Workshop on Fund Management

The Securities Industry Development Centre (SIDC) is organising a workshop on "Fundamentals of Fund Management" on 6 – 8 May 2003 at the Securities Commission.

This three-day, basic level workshop intends to provide an understanding on the fund management industry in Malaysia, its regulatory structure and introducing the market players. Also to be discussed in this workshop are the different types of funds, management styles and practical aspects relating to the conduct of a fund manager’s business.

The workshop will kick-off with an overview of the fund management industry. This will be followed by interesting sessions on ethical considerations in the proper conduct of a fund management company, securities offences, negligent misstatement and compliance.

Day 2 will resume with issues on fundamentals on investment, financial planning, portfolio management, asset allocation and risk management. Day 3 focuses on more sophisticated subjects such as various portfolio management theories for different portfolios for example equities, debt, international assets and non-traditional assets. In addition, techniques on monitoring fund performance will also be discussed.

This workshop is open to all asset and fund managers, corporate advisers, institutional and corporate investors as well as university students and members of the public who wish to enhance their knowledge on fund management.
