Kamal Azira Hassan is a Senior Government Legal Officer with over 25 years of experience in public law, government litigation, regulatory advisory, and institutional governance within the Malaysian public sector. He currently serves as Treasury Solicitor at the Legal Division of the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, where he provides strategic legal advisory on financial governance, statutory compliance, and government-related legal matters.
Throughout his distinguished career, he has held key leadership positions within the Attorney General’s Chambers, the Prime Minister’s Department, and State Legal Adviser’s Offices, including heading specialised units in tort litigation and international legal affairs. His areas of expertise include public and administrative law, corporate governance, regulatory frameworks, risk management, and sovereign legal matters.
Kamal Azira brings significant boardroom experience, having served as Director of 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB), Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) and USL, a joint venture company between Syarikat Perumahan Negara Berhad (SPNB) and Lembaga Tabung Angkatan Tentera (LTAT).
He holds a Master of Laws (Administration of Islamic Law) and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons.) from Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia
