Dato’ Seri Dr. Awang Adek Hussin served as the Executive Chairman of the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) from 1 June 2022 until 15 June 2024. Holding a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania, he brought extensive public policy, central banking and international diplomatic experience to the SC.
During his tenure, he prioritised market inclusivity, sustainable finance and capital market access for underserved sectors. He spearheaded the 5-year MSME and MTC Capital Market Roadmap to widen fundraising for mid-tier and smaller enterprises, accelerated Islamic capital market innovation and strengthened Islamic social finance.
