Kuala Lumpur, 10 August 2026

The Court of Appeal today dismissed appeals by Wong Shee Kai (Ricky Wong), Teh Sew Wan, and Wong SK Holdings Sdn Bhd (the Appellants) against the High Court’s decision to grant the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) an inter partes Injunction Order.

On 28 April 2022, the High Court granted an inter partes Injunction Order to freeze the Appellants’ assets and properties, worth up to RM169.2 million, pending the determination of a civil suit filed by the SC. The Injunction Order also prohibited any person from knowingly assisting or permitting any dealings with the Appellants’ assets and properties.

The suit, filed by the SC against the Appellants in 2020, was in relation to securities fraud contraventions under Section 179 of the CMSA involving Bright Packaging Industry Berhad. The trial is currently ongoing at the Kuala Lumpur High Court and is scheduled to continue 1 September 2026.

Justices Datuk Ravinthran a/l N. Paramaguru, Dato' Dr. Choo Kah Sing and Datuk Leonard David Shim dismissed the Appellants’ appeals against the High Court’s decision to grant the inter partes Injunction Order. The Court of Appeal also dismissed the Appellants’ bid to set aside an earlier ex parte Injunction Order by the High Court on 8 May 2020. The Appellants were further ordered to pay costs of RM200,000 to the SC.

The SC was represented by Mohd Hafiz Mohd Yusoff and Loo Kit Ming Keith, alongside SC’s appointed external counsel Dato’ Lim Chee Wee and Kwan Will Sen from Messrs Lim Chee Wee Partnership.
