SC Advocates Sustainable Investing at InvestSmart® Fest 2018

InvestSmart® Fest 2018, an investor education initiative by the Securities Commission Malaysia (SC), was officiated by Yang Berhormat Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, Minister of Youth and Sports Malaysia at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.

Held annually, the three-day InvestSmart® Fest from 12 to 14 October 2018, which aims to promote awareness and knowledge on the Malaysian capital market, is open to the public free of charge. Themed “Investing for a Sustainable Future”, the event is showcasing 45 participating organisations comprising capital market intermediaries, regulatory and other agencies under one roof.

This initiative is part of SC’s InvestSmart® investment literacy efforts to educate and empower investors, leading to more informed investor participation in the capital market. The SC has reached out to various segment of investors through seminars, roadshows, and community engagements nationwide as well as digital channels to reach the younger investor groups.

Bursa Malaysia Berhad is the exclusive partner for this year’s event. Other sponsors include Permodalan Nasional Berhad and the Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia. 

In conjunction with InvestSmart® Fest this year, the SC also today introduced an educational game ‘Jump2Invest’ which can be downloaded via Google Play and Apple Store. The game will impart basic capital market knowledge to players while they build their portfolio of investments in the game.

During the three-day event, approximately 600 complimentary financial planning sessions will be offered by more than 100 licensed financial planners on a first come first served basis.

A strong line-up of industry experts sharing insights on investment opportunities, financial management, retirement planning, smart investing for women and how digitisation affects investment decisions will also be featured during InvestSmart® Fest 2018.
