SC appoints new Executive Director of Issues and Investment

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) today announced the appointment of Mr Eugene Wong Weng Soon as its Executive Director of the Issues and Investment Division, effective 1 August 2009.

Mr Wong will succeed Datuk Kris Azman Abdullah, who is leaving the SC on 31 July 2009 after 5.5 years of service. During his tenure with the SC, Datuk Kris has contributed greatly to the many key SC initiatives, particularly in the development of the primary capital market.

Prior to joining the SC, Mr Wong was an Executive Director of Deloitte Corporate Advisory Services Sdn Bhd. He was also briefly the Head of Investment Banking overseeing Asia Pacific for an international Islamic bank based in Malaysia.

Mr Wong, who is a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants and a Fellow of both the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and CPA Australia, has wide experience in corporate finance, investment banking, corporate advisory services, Islamic finance and audit.
