SC Welcomes New Board Member

The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) has welcomed the appointment of Datuk Dr. Shahrazat Haji Ahmad as its new board member for a two-year term, effective on 15 February 2024.

Datuk Dr. Shahrazat is currently Deputy Secretary-General (Investment) at the Ministry of Finance, a position she held since October 2023.
The Board is responsible for the SC’s overall governance and has oversight of its regulatory and developmental mandates. The Board Members are appointed by the Minister of Finance.

The SC Chairman, Dato’ Seri Dr. Awang Adek Hussin said, “Datuk Dr. Shahrazat’s extensive background in finance, coupled with her proven track record in strategic development and investment management positions her as a valuable addition to the SC Board.”

“Her expertise and extensive experience in policy formulation will help the SC in achieving its strategic objectives of developing a robust and competitive capital market,” he added.

With a career spanning nearly 30 years in several key ministries and agencies, Datuk Dr. Shahrazat brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role as board member, he said.

Prior to her current position at the MoF, she held the position of Deputy Secretary-General (Development) at the Ministry of Defence from October 2021 to October 2023.

She also held various senior positions at the Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) of the Prime Minister’s Department, most notably as Deputy Director-General (Development).
