The primary aim of the seminar is to enlighten participants on the implications of the new regulatory regime for fund raising, which results from the coming into effect of amendments to the Securities Commission Act (SCA) 1993 on 1 July 2000. Under this new regulatory regime, the SC is the single regulator for all fund raising activities in Malaysia, whereby it is the approving and registering authority for prospectuses in respect of all securities other than securities issued by unlisted recreational clubs.
With the new regulatory framework for fund raising as its underlying subject matter, the seminar will provide participants with views and information on, among others, the following areas:
the opportunities and challenges of raising capital through the bond market;
the regulatory requirements for corporate bond issuance;
the tax implications for the bond market; and
the issues that investors need to be aware of when investing in debt instruments as well as the rights and remedies that are entitled to them.
The panel of distinguished speakers are experts in their field and comprise representatives from local and foreign regulators, issuers, corporate advisers and lawyers.
The seminar is targeted at directors and senior managers of public listed companies, bankers, issuers, fund managers, lawyers, market intermediaries, capital market professionals and investors.
